44 North Coffee Position -- Head Barista / Manager – Stonington [May - Oct]
This is a position of strength in multitudes of areas - communication with cafe team, 44 managers, and customers - assessment and communication of cafe inventory needs on a weekly basis - preparation of delicious beverages with pleasant customer service each and every time - staff training and constructive feedback - attention to detail and quality as well as passion for the cause.
Duties include:

Understanding the safety protocols and requirements when working nearby hot water and coffee equipment

Primary contact for Stonington cafe staff, meaning open to receive communication as early as 6 am Monday - Friday or after cafe hours. This would involve personal cell phone use.

Organization of daily cafe flow & knowledge of baker's schedules

Conducting inventory outside of normal cafe hours and staying in close communication with the roastery and Deer Isle cafe for inventory and bean needs

Communicating issues / needs / situations at weekly Manager’s Meeting

Thorough understanding and maintenance to point of sales system / Square
-
Keeping the workplace clean and organized, checking accountability system, messaging staff if there are areas where cleanliness is slacking

Vehicle necessary. Transport of weekly dairy + condiment needs. You keep track of your travel and we reimburse you for mileage at the end of season.

Communicating with bakers about pastry feedback (larger than daily leftovers)

Communicate to owners if a customer has as issue or complaint

Professionalism when dealing with customers

Bringing new ideas and concepts to the table as well as constructive suggestions to better educate our team and our customers
Physical demands:

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds of coffee onto mixing stool and lower back to floor

Ability to reach and lift overhead, or on a step stool

Ability to see, hear, taste, and speak

Ability to stand most of the day and also squat, turn, and bend with ease

Pay:

This is a position of strength in multitudes of areas - communication with your customers, cafe team, and production team - assessment and communication of cafe needs on a daily basis - preparation of delicious beverages with a pleasant customer service encounter each and every time - staff training and constructive feedback - attention to detail and quality as well as passion for the cause.
Duties include:
- Understanding the safety protocols and requirements when working nearby hot water and coffee equipment
- Organization of daily cafe offerings
- Maintaining cafe stock and preparing beverages for the following day (ex: cold brew)
- For Lead Barista - cafe training on brew methods, protocols, weekly communication to team
- Custom bagging of coffee for cafe customers
- Communication of larger orders to roastery and providing a ‘ready by’ time to customer
- Thorough understanding and maintenance to point of sales system / Square
- Communicating stock assessment on all packaging materials / retail coffee for our cafes / resale coffee brewing equipment / 44 north swag and products
- Keeping the workplace clean and organized
- Participation in the cleaning checklist and open-close protocols
- Daily / weekly cleaning of cafe space at 70 Main St
- Communication and problem solving with team when issues come up
- Communication to management team if a customer has an issue or complaint
- Professionalism when dealing with customers, especially difficult ones
- Bringing new ideas and concepts to the table as well as constructive suggestions to better educate our team and our customers

- Ability to see, hear, taste, and speak
- Ability to stand most of the day and also squat, turn, and bend with ease
