We are really excited to offer this incredible light roasted microlot from the Cooperativa del Sur del Cauca, COSURCA, in Colombia. Located in the Southern Colombian Macizo mountains in the center and south of the region of Cauca, this organization was constituted on March 12, 1993, with the objective of economic development in a region that was largely cut off from the rest of the country due to civil war and political violence. What once was a large coca producing region became small farmer organizations who received support from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Colombian Government so they could develop markets for their products, primarily coffee. COSURCA exports fair trade organic coffee to small and medium wholesale coffee roasters, and also manages its own line of wholesale roasted coffee for the domestic market.

Since their inception, COSURCA has followed 7 core values: Solidarity, Cooperation, Responsibility, Honesty, Hard work, Social Engagement and Respect for individuals and Nature.

We fell in love with this coffee from the first sample roast. It tasted incredible on a 20º spectrum! That is unusual for a coffee to be so good on such a wide roast spectrum. In the upper medium/dark region it tasted like those standard Colombian coffees we all know and love, but in the lighter range it really blew our minds. What stuck out the most across the 20º sample range was the incredibly unctuous, buttery, full body! It really is outstanding and coats your entire mouth in such a pleasing way. We ultimately settled on a light roast of these beans because it reminds us of the upcoming green, bright days of Spring, just around the corner. Rarely does a light roast taste just as good with cream, but this coffee is the exception, the creamy mouthfeel just intensifies with some added dairy. We came up with the tasting notes of full-bodied lime creamsicle! It really is! You'll feel like a kid again anticipating the warm days of spring and summer.
