Our Stonecutter Coffee is a rotating highlight series - a tribute to the rich history of Deer Isle-Stonington's granite quarrying industry that peaked in the early 1900s. These beans are selected for their "je ne sais quoi" and often come to us from unique coffee producing regions of the world, embracing inventive processing methods, and/or out of this world flavor from small farms. Limited amounts available, changing frequently, and now packaged in our one of a kind Stonecutter 10 oz. coffee tubes! These are the coffees that currently excite us a micro-roasters.

These tubes are a new package adventure for us. Designed and hand drawn by Deer Isle local Farrell Ruppert, they feature the slabs of granite quarried out of Stonington. Made of 100% FSC certified paper, soy ink, with gold foiled accents and a sticker of the current origin inside. For every tube made, a portion of profits are donated to One Tree Planted.

The Dhaka Bor Banti Cooperative is an exciting selection from Guji, an area rapidly gaining recognition within Ethiopia’s already world-renowned coffee landscape. Guji coffee is the “it” coffee right now in the specialty coffee world. This natural processed offering is sweet and layered with complex fruit notes, balanced beautifully by indulgent confectionary tones. Together, these flavors create a profile that is both vibrant and comforting, with a touch of savory intrigue in the finish. The body is exceptionally smooth and creamy, offering a rich, velvety mouthfeel that lingers. Roasted light or medium, Dhaka Bor Banti Guji carries a hint of roast character while still showcasing the modern, fruit-forward elegance Ethiopia is known for. We couldn’t pick a wrong end temperature for this coffee. It. Is. So. Good!

Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee, and every sip proves why it is legendary. Centuries of tradition and unmatched skill create flavors you won’t find anywhere else. Expect bright citrus, lush fruit, sweet florals, and tea-like elegance. We specifically got notes of raspberries and cream, and black tea. Melissa got to cup this coffee back in January when she was in Ethiopia and we are so excited to be offering Guji from the Dhaka Bor Banti Cooperative through Coop Coffees.

This Grade 1 Guji refers to the highest specialty-grade Arabica beans from the Oromia region of southern Ethiopia, a region known for producing complex, fruity flavor profiles. Once grouped with Sidama, Guji has gained separate recognition for its unique characteristics, along with a smooth, complex mouthfeel.
